original grease filter fell apart while washing it and couldn't be put back together

Can't believe GE Profile allows such a flimsy filter to be used at all. These filters should not just fall apart while running water through them.

I ordered replacement 4 replacements because I'm sure this will happen again. Part Select fortunately had replacements! You just slide the new filter in place, no tools required. Thanks Part Select.

Had to replace charcoal filter

Open the front cover by pushing it at the top (where it says "Push"), lifting up and pushing back on top edge of the old filter. Pull it out. Installing the new one is basically just the reverse of those steps! That simple.

Old filter did seem to be a little thicker (filter material), but the new one was the exact same dimensions, so it went in properly. Wish the filter material was white, so you knew just how dirty it was actually getting. But... :-D

Grill was cracked and Filter was wearing Out

First I removed the old air/grease filter from the exhaust fan. It get washed monthly, so after several years of use, it was time to replace it. Once the old filter was removed, I opend the new filter package, slide the new filter into the filter slot from left to right. Once in all the way, I slide it back to the right to set it completely.

Second I began work on the cracked grill. I removed the phillips head screw on the left side of the grill, then removed the phillips head screw on the right side of the grill. I pulled the old grill off straight out. I opened the new grill package. I started to install the new grill by insert the bottom part first, then insert the top tabs and guide second, make sure I pushed slightly on the grill so it seated top and bottom at the same time. I installed both phillips head screws, left and right side, and completed the job.

replace charcoal filter

there are two screws on the top near the vent. Unscrew the two and push the vent grill/cover to the left. It slides out easily. place the charcoal filter in the exhaust slot. there is no groove/slit for it as per manual, it just sits there (almost like an afterthought in design. Prop the bottom of the filter on the stubs on the lower edge of the exhaust mouth. Slide the grill/cover back and 'click' it in. put in screws. Note, since you've opened the grill/cover you might as well wipe the grease off. I used kitchen cleaner on a paper towel. Read more...

Grease Filter

PartSelect Number PS1018833

Manufacturer Part Number WB06X10654

The grease filter can be found on the bottom of the microwave. If your grease filter is damaged, it will not effectively capture grease that builds up when your microwave is in use. To replace the grease filter, simply grasp the filter ring and push it to the back of the microwave, then lift out the filter. To preserve the life of your grease filter, you should occasionally remove them and gently wash them in a warm water and detergent solution. Most microwaves will have two grease filters, but this part is sold individually. The grease filter is approximately 8.5 inches by 5 inches.
